The first part of the exhibition translates Petit’s story into a spatial experience. As visitors ascend and descend the ramp, yellow banners mark key milestones throughout his life, creating a visual timeline that reflects the tension and risk associated with his performances. At the central platform, a life-size representation of Petit becomes the focal point, giving visitors an immersive perspective on his iconic high-wire act.
The exhibition then shifts from the human experience of balance to its physiological foundations. Illustrations and an information board explain how the vestibular, visual and proprioceptive systems work together to maintain balance.
A digital touchpoint extends the exhibition. Visitors control the movement and tilt of a virtual head, which determines the progression of the experience. Each interaction reveals what happens within the body during the corresponding movement, with a particular focus on the vestibular system. This transforms a complex physiological process into a simple, intuitive and hands-on learning experience.
